Asking customers, properly

Product requests were arriving one anecdote at a time. I led a voice-of-customer study of our key and enterprise clients and turned what they said into one ranked list.

26Surveys with key & enterprise clients
10Industries represented
15Slides: themes and ranked asks
1Ranked input for the Product team

The problem

Requests reached the Product team one customer at a time, with no way to tell how widely a need was shared or how it compared with everything else on the list.

What I did

I ran a structured study instead of collecting more anecdotes.

01 · Ask26 surveys with key & enterprise clients
02 · SortGrouped across 10 industries
03 · FindThemes that cut across industries
04 · RankProduct asks in priority order
05 · PresentTo the whole company and the Product team

The result

A 15-slide study with cross-industry themes and a ranked list of product asks. I presented it to the whole company at an all-staff session and to the Product team, so planning starts from what customers said rather than whoever asked last.
